Alpha 9.8 pre-release notes, what to wait for in Alpha 9.8 Rating Options

Later today (June 4th, 2009) we are going to shutdown game servers in order to perform an update of AfterWorld to Alpha 9.8.

Here is a list of most important/noticeable changes:

#. New mobs
#. Disk Management terminal updated (can now handle MFP disks too)
#. AI updates
#. New clothes for all newcomers and citizens
#. Quarantine A1 changes:
>> Quarantine A1 is now covered with Force-Fields from the rest of the world
>> New farm with annoying bugs
>> New officers to provide "tutorial" to newcomers with tasks (PDA updated with new "task manager" panel)
>> Enabled manufacturing of ammo
#. New ammo
#. New visual feedback when wearing gas-mask (in first-person mode)
#. "Universal Repair Kit" has been updated
#. Added CDs and components for crafting of all mining tools
#. Updated manufacturing costs on some items (incl. mining tools)
#. Society chat changes: the names are now can be clicked to see avatar information
#. Added "Ignore" (no chat/trade interaction will be possible with ignored person)
#. New turrets placed on all outposts to replace old ones (to improve the protection of revival pad from mob's attacks)
#. Improved skills calculation on server to prevent damaging data
#. A lot of bug-fixes and improvements on both - the game client and servers to provide smoother gameplay process

Please keep in mind that skills are not yet fully implemented, and with implementation of crafting skills, the whole system will be re-tuned (to make it more interesting and logical). We are trying to make this progress as smooth as possible to you -- players, but don't blame us too much if something will go wrong, the game is under active development anyway.

P.S. The AfterWorld registration server (http://my.afterworld.ru/) will be down for some time due to the hardware maintenance during the Alpha 9.8 implementation.
